Cops lie about speeding

Well, who would have thought it? Here is proof that the police tell lies to avoid speed tickets.

Here at Motorists Against Detection we have long held the belief that to avoid tickets you need to be wearing a uniform. And here in today's Sun is a story about two top boys saying they were working when they were they weren't,

Congratulations to Surrey Police for investigating cops flouting of traffic laws. It's long over due but.....

Here's The Sun story:

TWO top cops were suspended yesterday on allegations of speeding and running red lights on private trips — while claiming to be on police work.

Surrey Police Chief Superintendent Adrian Harper and Superintendent Johnny Johncox could face criminal charges.

Investigators from the Independent Police Complaints Commission asked the Crown Prosecution Service to investigate if any criminal offences may have been committed.

The suspensions come as part of a probe into cops flouting traffic laws — then allegedly dodging their fine by signing forms claiming that they were on police business.

Surrey Police confirmed there were allegations of “dishonest conduct”.

Gatso nets £1m in just five months

Various camera partnerships, the Government and police keep trying to tell us that speed cameras are not about fleecing motorists.
But look at these figures - released under Freedom of Information and not willingly handed over - and think carefully.
What is the real issue here? If it is speeders going through roadworks causing such a problem then for God's sake get police patrols out and enforce the speed limit with tickets and 'words of advice'.
Or is it because there is an issue with signposting (a regular problem for people running cameras at roadworks) for so many people to be caught.
Whatever the answer it's simply ridiculous that so many drivers have had tickets issued.
On top of this it's also revealed that six other temporary camera sites together raked in £2.2million.
They were: the M1 in Mill Hill, North London (£616,000); A2 in Cobham, Kent (£397k); A40 in Denham, West London (£374k); A550 in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire (£368k); Junction 6 of the M62, Merseyside (£368k) and M1 near Rotherham, South Yorks (£71k).
This must be a topic for debate. So let's have it.
A GATSO installed to snare drivers racing through roadworks on a commuter route issued £1million of tickets in FIVE MONTHS.
The temporary speed camera snared 16,213 speeders — more than 100 a day.
Most would have been fined £60 — £973,000 in all — and faced three penalty points.
The camera was installed during a temporary 30mph limit on a 50mph section of the A316 in Hanworth, South West London — a commuter route into and out of the capital via the M3.

ID cards - it's an accident waiting to happen

Our march towards a police state continues. The worrying aspect is that the public sector is rammed with arrogant idiots who claim they can't do any wrong (preventing people appealing a speeding ticket and denied justice, anyone?).

So here we have a 'secure' system that has been breached by various people.

I flagged up ages ago that give these low-lifes any power and they will ALWAYS abuse it. Even if they don't have the right to access privileged information they still breach their own rules.

I'm telling you our privacy is up for sale via Zanu Labour. We cannot put up with this for much longer.

Identity database accessed by town hall staff without justification

A database which is to be used as a model for the proposed ID card scheme has been accessed more than 30 times by council staff without authority.

The "serious security breaches" were made to the Customer Information System, which will host personal information on tens of millions of Britons when the Government's national identity scheme is up and running.

The Department for Work and Pensions, which runs the database, has threatened legal action against local authority staff who access information without "business justification".

The database currently contains a record of everyone in Britain who has a national insurance number as well as other benefits and employment data held by the DWP.

The department shares the data with agencies including councils, the courts and other government departments, but at least 33 local authority staff have broken access rules to view information since August 2006.

In future the database will provide the backbone of the National Identity Register – a database of citizens created to support the issuing of ID cards – and the breaches have raised concern about the security of the scheme.

Speeding - one law for all of us?

You would think that all things being equal, a speeding arrest would lead to a ban. Sadly not. Here are a few examples dredged up this week. Read these and tell me the law treats us all as equals.

Speeding ban for Scots Labour MP

THE Labour MP for Falkirk, Eric Joyce, has been banned from driving for six months after speeding on the M9.Mr Joyce, 47, who is private secretary to the Business Secretary, John Hutton, pleaded guilty by letter this week at Falkirk District Court to driving at 81mph on the motorway near Bo'ness, West Lothian, on 4 April.

Plaid MP Elfyn Llwyd gets 28-day ban for speeding

PLAID Cymru parliamentary leader Elfyn Llwyd was banned from driving for 28 days yesterday after being accused of travelling at 101 mph.
Mr Llwyd, 57, MP for Meirionnydd Nant Conwy and a barrister, was also ordered to pay £675 in fines and costs by magistrates at Caernarfon.
He admitted speeding in his Mercedes car in a 60mph limit zone on the A487 near the Cross Foxes south of Dolgellau.

Obafemi Martins escapes driving ban

Road safety campaigners were furious today after Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins was not banned from driving having been caught doing 106mph in his Porsche.
Martins was clocked breaking the 70mph speed limit while on the way to the airport.
Newcastle Magistrates' Court heard yesterday the former Inter Milan player put his foot down because he was concerned he was going to miss a flight to see his sick son in Italy last May.
He was fined £550 and ordered to pay £400 costs and had six points put on his licence.
The 24-year-old Nigerian international was given credit for his unblemished driving record and his guilty plea by District Judge Stephen Earl.

It's not just me is it? There is something very wrong here. I'm not one to point an accusing finger but someone has done very well in court this week.

Police chief gets speeding fine

The head of Tayside police has apologised after being caught speeding on a hazardous stretch of the A9.
Chief Constable Kevin Mathieson was travelling at 72mph in a 60mph zone near Kingussie last September.
He accepted responsibility for the offence and was fined £60 and received three penalty points on his licence.

I'm struck here about how good the top cop is to cough up and admit it - and well done to the copper who caught him and gave him the ticket. However, being a copper we only get to find out about this speeding offence after it came to light through a Freedom of Information Request made by a newspaper.
